Morality, Immorality, Sexapades, Peace and Harmony

What constitutes morality? For a person to claim that being gay is immoral is asinine. There is immorality across the board of humanity. Rather straight, gay, black, white, Hispanic, Catholic, Jewish, Christian, Muslim….immorality has no boarders. There are immoral acts within all humanity. But being Gay DOES NOT MAKE YOU IMMORAL.

The English concept of morality is more completely secular and almost all who distinguish morality from religion regard morality as governing only that behavior that directly or indirectly affects others.

Almost all American colleges and universities prohibit discrimination against homosexuals, which strongly suggests that they agree that only behavior that adversely affects others counts as immoral.

The mindset of the radical right is reprehensible. What makes their God better than mine? Because if you think about it, God is pretty much individualized. Every person believes somewhat differently, and if asked to describe God, the descriptions would vary from one person to the next.

Is it immoral to send our soldiers in to an unjust war?

Is it immoral to have extramarital affairs? Newt Gingrich and Rudy Giuliani have.

Is it immoral to date your teacher while in high school? Newt Gingrich did.

Is it immoral to seduce your teenage page? Hmmm who did that Mr. Foley?

Gen. Peter Pace, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, said Monday that he supports the Pentagon's "don't ask, don't tell" ban on gays serving in the military because homosexual acts "are immoral," akin to a member of the armed forces conducting an adulterous affair with the spouse of another service member."I believe homosexual acts between two individuals are immoral and that we should not condone immoral acts," Pace said in a wide-ranging discussion with Tribune editors and reporters in Chicago. "I do not believe the United States is well served by a policy that says it is OK to be immoral in any way.

On Wednesday, Newsday repeatedly asked Obama if same-sex relationships were immoral."I think traditionally the Joint Chiefs of Staff chairman has restricted his public comments to military matters," said Obama, leaving Capitol Hill. "That's probably a good tradition to follow."He turned the conversation to opposition to the military's "don't ask, don't tell" policy: "I think the question here is whether somebody is willing to make the ultimate sacrifice for their country."

That sequence was remarkably similar to Hillary Clinton's responses Tuesday. When an ABC reporter asked her about the issue, she replied, "Well, I am going to leave that to others to conclude."

The correct response should have been “Being gay doesn’t make you immoral; one doesn’t just to DECIDE one day to become gay, it is an orientation.” Homosexuality is not a behavior. Is being gay really an issue at all? We have brave soldiers who have volunteered to protect our country, who cares if they are straight, gay or otherwise?

So now the dance begins, should we say this, or that, support this or that? Why not just be who you are and love all of mankind. Love our earth and take care of it. If all of us just practiced compassion, no wars would be fought, no crimes committed, no name calling, no adulterous acts, no immorality.

"A human being is a part of a whole, called by us universe, a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings as something separated from the rest... a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest to us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty." -Albert Einstein

Why aren't the Democrats taking a stand? Isn’t the Democratic Party supposed to be the humanitarian party? I am so upset with all of these politicians.

I would like to hear what stance Edwards and Gore have on this issue.
